Every year for the past 10 or so we have taken the weekend before Christmas typically on Saturday to bake and build ginger bread houses. Years ago Monique hosted and attended Pampered Chef parties and one year she got a hold of the ginger bread mold stoneware and ever since I have taken to the fun task of helping the boys build each their own ginger bread house. This year we were without Bryan so Monique and I decorated one together. Ben did his all up in purple and gold LSU colors, it is quite a unique little ginger bread house.

Holiday Gifts from the Kitchen

It is always nice getting presents for Christmas, but what is more exciting than receiving is giving, and what a better way to give than by making something. The real spirit of Christmas is about giving of yourself in time and spirit, and making gifts from the kitchen is a perfect way to send those you love a message of good tidings and cheer.

So I took a few minutes to add my 2 cents worth of tips for creating a memorable Thanksgiving main event meal. She mentions that it is her first time cooking the meal with her Mother-in-law having a birthday coming up and requested any ideas on ensuring a successful Thanksgiving dinner.

Roasted Pork Loin with Cornbread Apple Stuffing
November 11th, 2008 · 17 Comments
This is one of my favorite holiday meals and I have been making this dish since the late 1980’s after I first learned about a mesquite roasted version of the preparaton from Chef John Draz who was chef at The Winnetka Grill near Chicago, Illinois. The original restaurant burned down in 1996 and has since been shuttered and Draz has moved on to other lofty chef duties but the recipe remains alive in this version and my variation.
